Frosty morning in the Alpine region
This scene of an alpine region of Europe is set in the early morning in the dead of winter. An icy river flows through the landscape, the cream wintry sky being perfectly reflected in parts of it. Snow covered mountains in the distant background are highlighted by a timid sun, and accentuate the vastness of the scene. The sadness and lifelessness of the vegetation add to the frozen-in-time feel of the scene, which still exudes great beauty, as nature is a perfect expression of beauty in all seasons. There is a feeling of silence and waiting throughout a long, cold winter until the magic of nature brings a new season.
