Learning the trade

"Learning the Trade" captures the serene beauty of a Mediterranean coastal scene in the late afternoon, at the end of a day's fishing. The artwork depicts a vivid blue boat moored at a dock, in front of which a fisherman is engaged in teaching a child the art of repairing nets. The scene highlights the labour associated with the fishing industry. One easily senses the personal relationship between the older man and the child. Several sailboats are to be seen in the calm, blue waters in the background. The clear skies and subtle hues of blue add to the tranquillity of the scene.
